Retaking from oblivion and finishing THE MONSTER: Revell 1/48 Douglas A-26B Invader.
One of those kits which I left for decades in almost complete oblivion aside until I regained enough motivation and interest so as to go on with it. A beast which size deprives me of much room in the shelves.

My second and last (for now) Minecraft Model Kit item, in 1/48th scale: Cessna 150.

Definitely, it is not worth doing away with the engine set in these kits and believe that you will succeed on keeping them balanced. In any case, with all these single-engined civilian light aircraft that I built to date it is not worth trying something different. I have no more kits of this kind, though). Still waiting for the brave and kind company who bothers to manufacture a twin-engine civ...
Treating a 4D puzzle (???) as an average scale model kit: 1/144th C-130 Hercules (brand unknown).

No idea where does this Asian brand come from (Japan? China? Korea?...) but I find it really odd that, with the exception of the name of the aircraft, there is no word in English in the whole set. Anyhow, quite an enjoyable, simplistic and straightforward build.

I started with this kit while working on the previous Stearmen biplanes, hence that it took me so short to finish with it once the biplanes were done.

I forgot to add in the video that to make the A6M Zero engine cowling fit onto the civilian Stearman airframe I needed tout out the cylinders bulkheads, since engine and cowling were of the same diameter, making the fit of the later otherwise impossible.
A review-summary on my scale (aviation) models from 2023.

In general I would say that 2023 has been a good year for me in dealing with this hobby, despite having to face more important responsibilities during the first half of the year that slowed down the path a great deal. This review includes a few kits done at the end of the year for which build process videos I ran out of time, so I blended them with my other kits here.

I started with this kit before than with the Mc-200, but as I put my hands on the later I lost a bit of my interest on this one, which is not that complicated after all. At some point I considered buying in eBay some decals to make a Brazilian aircraft, but then I gave it a second thought and considered it wiser to save time and money by relying on what I had.
My last HOBBY BOSS kit for the moment: 1/72 Macchi Mc-200 Saetta.

A delight of a kit to build: quite simple and straightforward, with an excellent fit of pieces, a thick and robust plastic, and accurate enough from the outside. This will make my last HOBBY BOSS kit for now, since I have no more kits of this brand to build. Nonetheless I've got my eyes on one or two more in eBay to see if I finally go for them.
My first ICM kit: 1/72 Polikarpov I-15 'Chato'.
Pretty much in the same way as with my first Special Hobby kit (the 1/72 CASA C-212 early this year), my first experience with an ICM kit was unfortunately not as good as desired. The fact that I had to hand-craft some missing pieces might have masked the fact that this kit may have some fit issues. If so, I do hope that this is just an exception to the rule and the ICM that are waiting for the...
Hasegawa 1/72 Grumman OV-1B Mohawk- conversion to civil aircraft.

Instead of doing yet another military Mohawk, and since I could not put this kit for sale because the main pieces were cut out from their sprue, I took the decision of de-militarize it and adapt it to represent one of a few Mohawks in civil service. It was a tough choice, because apart from this, there were other civil schemes or liveries that appealed to me the same way, like an US Geological ...

A F-14 as a kit is certainly nothing new at all, but to me building one of those in 1/48th scale was a challenge provided my ever shrinking free space available at home. The reason why I finished this relatively soon and I am showing it just shortly after the 1/72 B-24 Liberator is that I have been alternating or combining the build of these two Italeri kits simultaneously- but they have not be...

This has been waiting its turn for a few years with the tail unit already assembled, but back then I found it too big to find its place somewhere in my display shelf. In theory this should have been my entry for Rob Basic Modelling's group build on WWII, but since I got no email reply from him after I sent him some photos on the build process, I guess that it´s out now.

Time ago I uploaded a collection of low fly-overs and fly-byes over Gijón (Asturias; Spain), but later on I realized that that was just part of all the stuff of that kind that I had, so I removed it and replaced this with this extended version showing essentially all kinds of "PIFOs" (Perfectly Identificable Flying Objects") save zeppelins and hot air balloons seen at the Gijón (Asturias; Spain...

I look forward to getting a Monogram or Revell-Monogram A-26 Invader. It's such a cool model kit. And yours looks awesome, by the way. Now if you want MASSIVE, try building and making room for Monogram's 1/48 B-29A Superfortress. I have a B-29K Counter Invader in 1/48 built by a friend and a B-29 built by truly yours, and man, the B-26K looks like a dwarf next to the B-29.
Thanks. And no, I am afraid that I do not want anything big in the line of a B-29 (or a B-36, or a B-52) in 1/48th scale, simply because the limited room available at home does not let me such oversized (and absurdly expensive) whims 😅 Because of that, I rather have to "think small" (literally and metaphorically). I already have a B-29 in 1/72 scale to restore, and even that looks exaggeratedly BIG to me (again, because of the limited room at home). Besides, I prefer a large collection on small models than a small one on "big boys", and right now my interest concentrates on civil propeller-driven aircraft and biplanes from the 1930s, of which I have a nice bunch to build. Regards and see you around.
I have a huge collection of these models, though some have broken or have missing parts due to their small size and fragile state. The Chinese brand that made these models have a lot of models made. From ground vehicles, ships, aircraft, and potentially fictional vehicles made. The models quality are all pretty mediocre, with some models having large differences to their actual counterparts. But they are really easy to assemble with some models just needing glue to stick properly. It is great for beginners in model kits
Great build. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, and thanks.
how do they fly with the propeller thingy not moving? It's going backwards even. ...just kidding.
the Rafale is even more efficient than this magnificent Eurofighter, in 2009, there were 18 fights, the Rafale won 16 fights, EMIRATES = 4 fights = 4 to 0 for the Rafale, to try to put the Rafale at level of the Eurofighter, the French mechanics reduced the capabilities of the Rafale by 25%, and to 75% of their capacity = 4 fights = 3 to 1 for the Rafale! 2009, Solenzara base in Corsica = 10 fights = 9 to 1 for the Rafale! and yet, the Eurofighter is more powerful = 18 tons of thrust against 15 tons for the Rafale, the Eurofighter is faster = mach 2 against mach 1.8 for the Rafale! even the F22 with these 31.2 tons of thrust, these mach 2.2 and vectorized thrust, the Rafale won the only successful fight
I am not much into modern aviation (my field is rather that on warbirds), so I cannot say much (if anything) about that data. But at least from the aesthetic standpoint I like the Rafale much better than the Eurofighter (and besides, as far as I know the French aircraft does not have as many crashes -including fatal ones- in its career as the Eurofighter does), even if both look pretty much alike in general, at least to the eye of the unexperienced.
Nice video and choice of kit. Well done!
It's a Chinese brand that usually makes very small box scale model snap fit kits. I built mine as a Royal Malaysian Air Force C-130H, but I didn't scratch build landing gear bay doors. They've also got a Tu-22M3, H-6K and An-12 in their 1/144 lineup now if you can find them. They're easy on the wallet where I am, but it's basically cancelled out by the cost of aftermarket decals.
Aha, thanks. This is the only item from this brand that I have spotted so far. Also, the only 1/144th An-12 that I found to date was one from the A-Model brand, if I am not wrong.
There was a hobby shop (now closed sadly) that used to have this kit, and I probably picked it up a few dozen times but I never bought it and I really regret that now after watching this video as this looks like such a fun kit to build! I agree with you on that, I've never understood, mostly because I don't manufacture plastic models, but why certain parts can't be flipped around to avoid ejector pin marks.
Isn't it frustrating and annoying when you long hesitate about buying something or not and in the end you miss the chance?... As for the ejector pin marks, that can be sort of "forgivable" with smaller brands, but with a larger one like Hasegawa it's like "what have you done, men?"...
I was thinking that this might be from New Ray, but I think there are too many parts for that company. But you did a great job bringing this up an extra notch with your details. The green-grey camo in particular looks really nice! I hope to build a C-130 later on this year as well, not sure what scheme to use on that one either.
Indeed old liveries have an appeal that modern ones lack (all in this dull, lifeless and boring grey, regardless how effective it might be operationally speaking), and the Hercules has a nice range of liveries to choose among.
That's some first-rate flying!
Saludos desde México, gracias por compartir.
De nada. Saludos también.
Beautiful model... :) Definitely one of your best builds that I've seen. :) I find I am moving away from 1/72 aircraft more and more, instead focusing on armour at the moment., preferably in larger scales like 1/48 or 1/35. No doubt I will return to 1/72 aircraft again in the future.. :)
Thanks Rob. 1/72 seems to be the best scale, because there are probably more models than in 1/48th scale and, simply because of their smaller size, you can deal with more.
Awesome model!
Thanks. Not perfect but at least good enough.
Great build. A classic. Very elegant model. Thanks for sharing your hard work.
Thank you very much. It could have been better (as usual with my models), but let's say that it's okay.

NIcely done. This is a very small kit, not so easy to bring out this real looking finish.
Thanks a lot! But as I say in the video, I need to practice my skills on rigging to make them look better and more realistic.
